Bethany Weiss is ready to leave the town of Jamesport, Missouri. Her dad the bishop was admitted to a mental hospital after hurting their small Amish community. Silas Beiler was kicked out of his family’s home. He had a rough childhood being blamed for each new disaster. He begins hitchhiking across the country, sleeping in barns and heading toward Pensylvania to find stability. When Bethany comes accross a man asleep in the hayloft, she is frightened at first until she realizes it is Silas, a man she was in love with six years ago.
