  • Ezra And Nehemiah

    $34.99

The books of Ezra and Nehemiah tell a vital story of a community revived and restored by God’s grace through gifted individuals-preparing the way for the coming Messiah. In his practical and devotional expository commentary, pastor-theologian Derek W. H. Thomas shows what this gripping narrative can teach us about kingdom life in our own time. In their different ways, Ezra and Nehemiah both prioritized the Word of God and the practice of prayer. If the church of our day is to recover and be renewed, Thomas argues, these commitments are just as vital for us as well. Continue Reading Ezra And Nehemiah

These are popular messages, prepared originally for a radio audience. They should not be considered a commentary on the entire Bible in any sense of that term. These messages are devoid of any attempt to present a theological or technical commentary on the Bible. Behind these messages is a great deal of research and study in order to interpret the Bible from a popular rather than from a scholarly (and too-often boring) viewpoint. Daniel Berrigan is not an academic Scripture scholar searching for an (always elusive) ‘original meaning’ of the text. His concern is for the significance of the text to us–in the here and now [He] has long been known to be a prophet, someone who courageously speaks God’s will for our warring world For Daniel Berrigan, Genesis speaks to our time and our world

For seven years, Daniel Berrigan pondered the themes, meanings, contradictions, and implications of the Bible’s most well-known and well-cherished Book of Beginnings. In light of the escalating violence, military occupations, and global acts of terrorism that have characterized the beginning of our twenty-first century, Genesis: Fair Beginnings, then Foul yields both sorrowful and hopeful reflections as Berrigan walks his readers through the Scripture, searching for stories of ancestry and origins that can shed a measure of light on dark days.

Bringing together lively midrash, biblical exegesis, and stirring social and political critique, Daniel Berrigan marries the keen eye of a biblical scholar with the heart and words of a poet revealing for today’s generations the book of Genesis, in all of its aspects, fair and foul.

    $28.00

In Hebrews we can see the shadows of the past in the light of Christ’s reality; we understand how Christ is the fulfillment of the old; it is explained to us how the material and temporal order of the Old Testament gives in to a new and eternal spiritual order which is actually the order that God had in mind from the beginning. • Jonas

    $13.00

A well known story from Sunday School teaching onwards, most of us might think there is not much more to say about it. Yet, beyond the facts, there is a genuine trove of symbolism and sound spiritual principles worth while reflecting about. The Holy Spirit is always at work, opening up new venues of growth in our spiritual life. The present commentary reads this story from a completely novel angle. Leaving behind cliche accounts of former times, the author presents Jonah both as a prophet and a genuine servant of God in awesome anticipation of the work of Christ. Continue Reading Jonas

  • Jeremias Y Lamentaciones

    $16.00

The prophet Jeremiah and King Josiah were born at the end of the longest, darkest reign in Judah’s history. Human sacrifice and practice of the black arts were just two features of the wickedness that filled Jerusalem from one end to the other with innocent blood. As outspoken prophet and reforming king, these two men gave their country its finest opportunity of renewal and its last hope of surviving as the kingdom of David. The book of Jeremiah is full of turmoil and national tragedy, the story of key people like Baruch, Gedaliah and Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, and the drama of rediscovering the forgotten book of Mosaic law. National events interweave with the lives of individuals; the rediscovered book of God’s law transforms Josiah, Jeremiah and the future of the world. Derek Kidner, with careful attention to the text, reveals its startling relevance to our own troubled time. Continue Reading Jeremias Y Lamentaciones

The book of Judges tells about the leaders God raised up for Israel from the death of Joshua until the time of Israel’s kings. We see the people of Israel repeatedly falling away from God, provoking His discipline, which in turn brings the people running back to God for help. Through the leadership of the judges, God throws off foreign oppressors and restores peace to Israel. In the stories of people such as Deborah, Gideon and Samson, we see God’s covenant faithfulness, His patience and His long-suffering with His people. The book of Ruth, which is set during the time of the judges, is about a young woman of Moab, the great-grandmother of David, and an ancestress of Jesus. Ruth’s selfless devotion to her desolate mother-in-law, Naomi, and Boaz’s kindness to these two widows are examples of lives that reflect God’s love. We see by Ruth’s example that participation in God’s kingdom is not decided by blood, but by obedience that comes from faith. Continue Reading Libro De Jueces Y Rut (Student/Study Guide)

  • Job Through New Eyes

    $18.95

Bible-reading is more of an art than a science. The Bible is a story, not a lexicon of systematic theological definitions. With this in mind, the Through New Eyes Bible Commentary Series builds on the foundational biblical-theology work of James B. Jordan and other like-minded scholars. They bring you a set of commentaries that will help you read, teach, and preach through the Bible while picking up on the rich symphonic themes and the literary symbolism of the Scriptures. Because they are written for thoughtful Christians without being overly academic, these commentaries will serve as valuable resources for family worship, Sunday school, or Bible studies.
